Angela Hill is one of the longest tenured fighters in the UFC. She is also one of the most unlucky fighters in the UFC, having been on the wrong side of many Split-Decisions. A lot of those fights could’ve gone either way, but the judges always seem to favor her opponents. Whether it be her fighting style, or favoritism by the judge’s, Hill always puts on a strong performance. She seems to always be in the fight no matter who she is in the octagon with.
Hill is coming off a tough loss to the very talented, Mackenzie Dern. Angela seems to be given the toughest fights, and always accepts them. You gotta respect that! A lot of fighters pick and choose their opponents based on their strengths and weaknesses. Hill has never been that fighter! Even though her record is flawed, Angela has the experience to take out any prospect on any night.
The UFC has matched Hill against the very tough, Denise Gomes. The 23 year old is coming off a spectacular 1st round knockout of the formerly undefeated, Yazmin Jauregui. However, Gomes is successful when she can come forward aggressively and throw heavy strikes. Against an opponent like Hill, she should struggle with striking from distance. Hill does a great job of staying on the outside, picking and poking the jab, circling the octagon, and frustrating the very aggressive fighters. A good example is the fight between Denise Gomes and Loma Lookboonme. I can say with confidence that Hill is a better all around fighter than Lookboonme, so I’ll take Hill by decision at UFC Sao Paolo, on Saturday, November 4th.
